Risk-taking is a critical skill, and certainly that applies here. You can roll as many times as you want each turn, but at least one of them has to belong to a legal column you are advancing up. First person to lock 2 columns wins.
STOP is a turn-based dice game of risk management. It can be played by up to 3 players, computer and human.
This was updated on 02/09/20 - Added computer players and various bug fixes.
Download, virus check (precaution), and Run STOP Installer - This is a free gameThe New Game menu at top allows you to start a game with different kinds of opponents. Up to 3 sides are allowed: Red, White, and Blue. They take turns in order.
Each turn the current player is presented with dice to roll, and can choose up to 3 columns to advance up. The first rolls determine those columns, and each succeeding roll must match at least one of those columns.
Markers placed are temporary, and are lost if the player fails to make a roll. When the player stops, those markers become permanent, and will not be lost with future fails. If a player makes it to the top of a column and stops, they lock that column and all other players lose their markers on that column, including permanent ones.
The winner is the first player to lock 2 columns.
STOP uses .NET 4. You normally can download and run the game without it (chances are already installed), so try just install and download. As always, do a virus check when downloading any executable from the internet.
Download, virus check (precaution), and Run STOP InstallerIf the operating system complains, you can download .NET 4 from the Microsoft site:
Download then Run .NET 4 Installer from MicrosoftWhen presented a choice of Save or Run, choose Run. If the installers ask questions, pick the positive choice: Accept, Yes, etc.
STOP was originally a C-64 game, which I made a Windows 3.1 version many years ago. For those who want to try it on a suitably old machine (WinXP or earlier), here it is.
